Are Commercial Saunas Better Than Home Saunas?

Commercial saunas are designed to provide the same sauna health benefits as a home sauna, but are able to withstand usage by more people over a longer period of time. These saunas are found in spas and hotels where people from all walks of life take advantage of the benefits these saunas provide to keep them healthy on vacation or a business trip.

A commercial steam sauna is larger than one designed for use by one or two people. It contains heavy-duty materials for the benches and the heaters. Some of these contain infrared heaters, but as a rule the saunas used for commercial usage use the steam and heat from hot lava rocks. These saunas are usually of the wet variety and do provide a wide range of health benefits.

Visiting your health club or spa on a regular basis and using the sauna is very beneficial and keeps you healthy. After an exercise routine, relaxing in a commercial Finnish sauna at the facility helps to reduce the pain and stress on your muscles. It is also very convenient to have a sauna on the premises so you don’t have to drive home to enjoy the therapeutic benefits that only saunas can provide.

Doctors often recommend relaxing in a sauna to patients suffering from muscle or joint pain. Steam room therapy, whether administered in commercial or home saunas, helps broken bones and sports injuries to heal faster because the heat penetrates below the surface of the skin. Other health benefits include rejuvenating the skin to a healthy glow by clearing out pores blocked by dirt and grease from skin creams.

When using a commercial steam sauna, you often get to meet new friends. In North America, when using a sauna in a commercial facility it is normal to keep your clothes on. Usually people wear a bathing suit and still reap the health benefit obtained from bathing in a sauna.
