Family Sauna Prices Depend on Features, Size, and Type of Heater
There are a number of moderately to high-priced sauna kits suitable for a
family sauna. Prices of home saunas
depend on the size of the room (one person to 6-person saunas), type of wood
used in the construction of the sauna (fir, cedar, pine), type of heater (wood,
gas, electric, infrared) and the type of kit (modular, pre-built, custom
designed, completely assembled). Extra expenses include shipping and set-up
costs.
Under $2000
A 2-person infrared home sauna by SeaMax is available online from ProHealth. Suitable for families who want to
take turns with their sweat therapy, this inexpensively priced fir sauna using
infrared heat is ready for use with as little as 5-10 minutes of preheating.
This sauna requires a floor space of just 4’ x 4’ and can be assembled with a
simple screwdriver. All that is needed is a standard 110 V 15 Amp circuit to
plug in the infrared heater. According to the manufacturer, the infrared sauna
is very economical to operate, costing your family just 10 cents in electricity
for a 30 minute session.
Under $5000
A 4-person home sauna is large
enough for most families. Online retailer Hammacher-Schlemmer sells a partially
assembled family home sauna priced just under $5000 that fits easily into an
existing bathroom, recreation room or the garage. The 6’ x 4’ red cedar cabin
has ample room for a family of four and could be set up outdoors with the
addition of a suitable roof. This model uses an electric heater and natural
convection to circulate heat throughout the sauna. Warm-up is quick and the free
air flow design is energy efficient.
$10,000 plus
If price is not a concern, the Mr. Sauna
Allegro model available from Homecenter represents the ultimate in luxury
for a family home sauna. A 7’ x 5’ space and dedicated 240 V electric outlet is
needed for the A-200L model which can be installed in one afternoon for a
lifetime of luxurious in-home sauna bathing. The unique design incorporates
curved glass and soft shapes, shelves, mirrors, interior lighting and
ergonomically designed seats.
