Health Benefits of Dry Saunas

The health benefits of dry saunas and wet saunas are well documented. While exercising on a regular basis and following a healthy diet can help keep your risk of disease low and place you in a “good” position as far as your health goes, sometimes you need an extra boost that is beneficial to your overall level of health. You may not have considered it, but sauna bathing can provide excellent benefits. There are two main types: dry and wet. Each type of sauna is characterized with certain benefits.

Hot temperatures that cause you to sweat are typical of both dry and wet traditional Finnish saunas. In a dry sauna the temperature gets hotter than 150 degrees, which is hotter than in a wet sauna. You may find it difficult to believe, but at this extreme dry temperature you are more comfortable and able to stand the extreme temperature of the sauna longer. When you take a sauna bath, the amount of water in the air is limited. The perspiration that your body releases doesn’t remain on your skin very long since the air is filled with mostly heat. This results in a sauna bath that is healthier and more beneficial. This is especially true for people who suffer from cardiovascular health-related conditions. They are able to spend more time bathing since they don’t become fatigued as quick.

There are other health benefits related to a dry sauna bath. If you are interested in losing weight you can easily burn 300 or more calories while bathing in saunas. The perspiration that is released from your body is similar in volume to what you would experience during a workout. You undoubtedly are familiar with how healthy exercising is for you. There are other health benefits associated with releasing a significant amount of perspiration while bathing in a sauna. Your heart will beat faster and pump more blood throughout your body. You may experience a significant improvement in your skin as well as a refreshed feeling. The benefits are numerous and you should enjoy dry saunas as often as you can.
